چکیده
In 1982 Weinstein reported a syndrome in pregnancy characterized by haemolysis, elevated liver enzymes and low patelet count, the HELLP syndrome, and described it as a severe consequence of pre-eclampsia.' Patients may present with a wide variety of signs and symptoms but evidence ofpre-eclampsia may not be present.2 Multisystem failure may occur due to widespread microcirculatory dysfunction. This case demonstrates the range of supportive therapy required in the intensive care management of such patients.

HELLP Syndrome Complicated by Subcapsular Hematoma of Liver: A Case Report and Review of the Literature
Subcapsular liver hematoma (SLH) is a rare complication of severe preeclampsia and HELLP syndrome. These patients must be followed up in intensive care unit for advanced medical support with infused fluid, replacement of blood products, and treatment of underlying disorders. There are a lot of therapeutic options varying from conservative management to surgical treatment including hepatic resec...

CONTEXT AND OBJECTIVE Despite the development of tertiary care facilities, intensive care and advanced blood banking techniques, pregnancy-related hypertensive disorders are the main cause of maternal mortality in most countries. Our purpose was to determine maternal outcome in pregnancies complicated by HELLP syndrome (hemolysis, elevated liver enzymes and low platelet count) that required int...
متن کاملPosterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome in patient of severe preeclampsia with Hellp syndrome immediate postpartum
Posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome (PRES) is a rare clinico-neuroradiologic condition, not commonly reported in the literature. PRES is an uncommon complication of severe preeclampsia/eclampsia. We report the management of one patient with postpartum preeclampsia as an association of HELLP syndrome presenting with status-epileptics. Early diagnosis along with timely supportive therapy...
متن کاملCritical care in obstetrics: pregnancy-specific conditions.
This chapter summarizes the clinical presentation, pathophysiology, evaluation and management of six commonly encountered complications unique to pregnancy that require critical care management: obstetric haemorrhage; pre-eclampsia/HELLP (haemolysis-elevated liver enzymes-low platelets) syndrome; acute fatty liver of pregnancy; peripartum cardiomyopathy; amniotic fluid embolism; and trauma.
متن کامل[Critical care of the obstetric patient].
The obstetric patient poses exceptional challenges in the intensive care unit. Knowledge of the physiologic changes of pregnancy and specific pregnancy-related disorders is necessary for optimal management. Intensive care unit diagnoses may include preeclampsia, including the HELLP syndrome, pulmonary embolic disease, amniotic fluid embolism, status asthmaticus, respiratory infection, the acute...
